Group of companies Penki kontinentai at IBC 2011 exhibition

Published: 6 September 2011 y., Tuesday

From September 8th to September 13th this year, the annual international electronic media and entertainment industry exhibition and conference IBC 2011 (one of the biggest events in the world in terms of participants and visitors), will take place at the Amsterdam Exhibition and Congress Centre RAI. It is both presentation of the latest TV solutions and a number of seminars, meetings and training sessions, where participants will be able to learn about the latest trends in the television and telecommunication market as well as access the multimedia content and software innovations.

Along with such world-renowned companies as Cisco Systems, Motorola Mobility, Microsoft, Open IPTV Forum, and others, the exhibition shall be traditionally attended by the representatives of the Lithuanian group of companies Penki kontinentai. In the course of the exhibition the Group’s specialists will introduce the interactive service management technology package IPTV.IQ, interactive service package IQTV implemented via the fiber optic network Skynet, and uniqueness and strengths of the interactive channel Penki TV (Five TV), focused on HD and 3D format.

According to the Penki kontinentai Board Chairman Idrakas Dadašovas, at the event the Group will presents itself as a telecommunications and interactive services provider and interactive channel Penki TV (Five TV) broadcaster, as well as acquaint the exhibition visitors with its own developed software products.

“At this exhibition we will present quite a number of new solutions, which, we hope, will be interesting to both exhibition visitors and our customers. One of the main exhibition participation objectives is meeting with partners’ (Cisco Systems, Motorola Mobility and Open IPTV Forum) representatives and sharing experiences. Such meetings, usually not lacking interesting discussions, always attract great interest. Not to mention, speed up the decision making. The Internet giant Google acquired the Motorola Mobility company, in the projects of which we were participating as partners for a long time, thus creating preconditions for the use of all innovative solutions at the mobile device market and development of important IPTV technology-related projects. We will present the exhibition visitors and partners with the book Naujojo šimtmečio televizijos horizontai (Horizons for the New Century Television) that was released just a few weeks ago in the Lithuanian and Russian languages. The book is being distributed in cyberspace; one can read it on the tablet devices. Due to the increase in the number of channels and TV content distribution centres, our strategic plan includes the 3D technology-related solutions. Many of the conference attendants are specialists, who will be reading sports-related reports, which is especially topical at the time of the Eurobasket 2011 championship, in which our country’s national team is successfully participating. Besides, we are interested in sharing 3D equipment and TV technology business model standards beyond recreation and entertainment trends,” stated I. Dadašovas.

According to the Head of the Strategic Planning and Programming Department Saulius Paukštis, the interactive service package IPTV.IQ has been updated and now includes a graphical user interface. It is based on the Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) technology. The major companies, such as IBM and Corel, use this technology when developing various products. SVG secures the interface function that consists of automatic stretch and readjustment to the corresponding format without contortions. The new graphical user interface meets all standards recommended and approved by the organization Open IPTV Forum, which the group of companies Penki kontinentai joined in March of this year.

According to the specialist, the IQTV service package exclusiveness is in offering a full service package to both businesses and other sectors (such as entertainment, tourism and medicine). Such package is being constantly updated with new interactive services, which provides possibility to control television in accordance with one’s needs and exploit all the advantages of the Internet. The services to be presented during the exhibition include: ability to watch TV on mobile devices (e.g. iPhone, iPad, etc.). In addition, smart phones and tablets can be used to control the broadcast, use Video-on-Demand (VOD) service, radio on TV screen, TV on desktop (TOD), virtual movie theatre, access advantages of ‘parental control’ feature, and apply Smart House solutions contained by the IPTV.IQ package.

The interactive service management package IPTV.IQ application capabilities are endless: it can be used in the banking sector, retail trade, tourism and medical field. The functional system capacities allow these sectors to apply any marketing advertising campaigns and services: activate or withdraw the leased channels registration option, meaningfully organize patients’ leisure during their rehabilitation at health centres, medical treatment facilities and specialized clinics.

Each year the IBC exhibition attracts approximately 1,300 participants from 140 countries. Organizers expect that this year’s event will be visited by over 48,000 professionals from all over Asia and Europe.
