Published: 19 September 2011 y., Monday

Annually held exhibition “IBC 2011”, covering various areas: hardware development and media content creation, storage and delivery through a variety of communications and data transmission media, was successfully completed at the Amsterdam RAI Exhibition Centre. This event had a record number of visitors – 50462.

The entire area of the exhibition “IBC 2011” was divided into three zones: audio and video content creation, audio and video content management and administration, as well as audio and video content delivery. Sectors accommodated 13 thematic sections. More than 1,300 exhibitors presented their products at the exhibition. Among the exhibitors were the market leading companies such as Cisco Systems, Motorola Mobility, Microsoft, Sony, Panasonic and others.

The most recent trends in television, radio, mobile TV, IPTV and electronic media have been presented at the exhibition.

Among many recent works, the company NHK presented its video and audio transmission solution “Super High Definition”. “Super high definition” has been demonstrated using the world’s first 85-inch, 7680×4320 pixel resolution LCD screen. This unit transmits image and sound via an IP network. A broadcast from London Olympic Committee was chosen as an example, because this technology is primarily intended for 2012 Olympic Games broadcasts.

Given the importance of the event, for the fifth time in an international forum Lithuania was represented by a group of companies Penki kontinentai”. The company’s products and services include IQTV – an integrated set of services, which account for more than 90 channels (among them – the channels through which an image is displayed in HD and 3D format), and a number of services on the TV screen. This service is successfully used in fiber-optic network Skynet – it was chosen by 30,000 broadband internet users.

According to the Chairman of the Board Idrak Dadašov, recently, a fierce competition among IPTV middleware complex developers has been noticed. Each year developers propose a wide range of services designed to increase convenience of media content as well as for its viewing, recording, storing, searching and monitoring.

“We were pleased that our product – intermediate software IPTV.IQ Middleware – and its wide range of application in various fields such as banking, retail, healthcare, tourism business, security services, have received a great interest of our visitors and partners” said I. Dadašov.

At the exhibition, the company “Penki kontinentai” also presented an interactive channel “Penki TV” which is primarily inteded for HD and 3D video formats and which shows a lot of copyright broadcasts as well as news in Russian and Lithuanian. During negotiations with visitors and others interested, in addition to the consideration of media content purchase the company’s specialists mainly focused on sales and rentals of media content material developed by our partners through electronic distribution channels worldwide.

In addition to the exhibition, the event IBC 2011 included conferences and seminars during which various executives of the companies gave speeches. The visitors had a great opportunity to meet and gain experience from the representatives of the world’s largest companies, such as Microsoft, Facebook, Sony and Walt Disney. Halls for the plenary sessions were highly comfortable – each specialist was able to choose conference room corresponding to his or her interests and specializations.

During the event, the Chairman of the Board of the group Penki kontinentai” Idrak Dadašov met with executives of an international organization OIPF (Open IPTV Forum) – President Nilo Mitra, Vice-Presidents Mohammed Dadas and Luca Pesando. According to Idrak Dadašov, the work of IPTV Forum is very useful and important for the development and management of IPTV standards. During the meeting, OIPF representatives proposed to consider the possibility to hold a regular OIPF conference in Vilnius. To extend the range of services and improve their quality, “Penki kontinentai" experts had several meetings with strategic partners of the group – the companies Motorola, Cisco, Playbox Technology.

IBC exhibition dates back to 1967. At present, this exhibition is the largest event in the world in this area. The next IBC event will traditionally be held in the autumn of 2012 in Amsterdam.
