On 12 December 2012 the winners of the national competition Lithuanian Product of the Year 2012 were announced. The competition has been organised annually by the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists since 1998. The main purpose of the competition is to improve the competitiveness of high-quality Lithuanian products, to introduce the industrial production, goods, and services of the state to local and international users as well as establish them in the market.

This year there were 80 nominees in ten evaluation groups from 15 fields of the country’s industry. The Evaluation Committee representing different industrial and business fields, having summarized the conclusions of experts, has decided to award the products and services of companies with 85 gold and 15 silver medals. The awards of the Product of the Year were presented to the heads of the companies by the Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius and president of Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists Robertas Dargis.

Graphical user interface IPTV.iQ of the company Penkių Kontinentų Komunikacijų Centras was awarded the gold medal in the group of information technologies. It is the software that allows turning the regular TV to Smart TV.

“All our services and products for both business and private customers are oriented at the top standards in the field. So is IPTV.iQ. This versatile software product allows using the IPTV platform in different business fields: tourism, medicine, education, catering, etc.,” said Mr. Justinas Simanavičius, the Head of Strategic Planning and Programming Division of the company and one of the developers of IPTV.iQ.

In 2012, this product of the Lithuanian company has also been evaluated at the international level. In the annual broadcasting, digital technologies and multimedia exhibition and conference IBC 2012, IPTV.iQ was one of the finalists in the prestigious competition Connected Content Technology Awards along with NDS products of such companies as Cisco, BBC, Alcatel-Lucent, and RGB Networks.
