In 2019, 5.1 million people used railway transport services in Lithuania, which is 7.7 percent more than in 2018 (4.7 million). In order to develop the passenger transportation sector and modernize payment processes, Lietuvos geležinkeliai acquired from ASHBURN International, a company specializing in software solutions for EFTPOS terminals, about 100 Ingenico iWL250 payment terminals.

Mobile EFTPOS terminals support contactless payment. All devices are connected to the TransLink.iQ software solution developed by ASHBURN International, which provides real-time control and monitoring of the terminal network, as well as remote software updates.

According to preliminary data for 11 months of 2019, the turnover of Lietuvos geležinkeliai as compared to the same period last year increased by 1.2 percent and reached 427.4 million euros. In 2018, the profit of Lietuvos geležinkeliai amounted to 54.8 million euros, the company paid record dividends to the state for 43 million euros.
