UAB “Penkių kontinentų komunikacijų centras” that provides Internet and smart TV “Skynet” services is expanding into foreign markets – “IPTV.iQ” software developed by the company is being introduced in Georgia. It will be used by one of the largest Internet and IP (Internet Protocol) TV service providers in the country “Caucasus online”. It is planned that from January of the nest year this solution will provide IPTV services to 50,000 users in Georgia.

Georgia has become the first foreign country to introduce the software solution developed by “Skynet”. It allows for making a TV set smart and gives users the opportunity to use e-mail, Google Maps, social network Facebook, photo viewer Picasa and Flickr, listen to radio, watch videos on YouTube and use other interactive functionalities directly on a TV screen.  In the near future, “IPTV.iQ” is planned to be introduced in Eastern and Western markets.

“This innovative “IPTV.iQ” software solution developed in Lithuania will soon be available in Georgia. This is the very first step that achieved recognition on an international scale. Together with the best products of such world’s leading companies of software solutions as Cisco, BBC, etc. “IPTV.iQ” has entered the finals of the prestigious competition “Connected Content Technology Awards”. Thus, we are planning further development outside our country soon. I think that the main reasons for the success of this solution are its flexibility, adaptability, opportunity to use a variety of additional functionalities on a TV screen. When developing the solution, we paid great attention to the end user”, says the Head of Marketing Department at UAB “Penkių kontinentų komunikacijų centras”.

“IPTV.iQ” software consists of user interface, administration panel and other internal modules. It is constantly maintained and adapted according to the needs of a customer. According to M. Čaplinskas, this solution is intended for IPTV providers and can be applied in various business areas: hotels, SPA centers, rural tourism farmsteads, medical or educational institutions, trade or information centers. For example, the solution provides customers with the opportunity to view a restaurant’s menu, photos and videos of particular dish on a TV screen as well as to order the food to a hotel room without even picking up a phone. Moreover, businesses making use of this software solution are able to create their own TV channels, etc.

“IPTV.iQ” system has been developed and improved for 5 years; it is constantly updated depending on the needs of individual customers. Currently, “Skynet” IPTV viewers in Lithuania use 4.4 version of the system. The system was developed in “Skynet” TV research center whose team consists of programmers, user experience experts and designers.

“IPTV.iQ” has been positively appreciated in a recent international exhibition “IBC 2012”.  Along with products of such companies as Cisco, BBC, Alcatel-Lucent, RGB Networks, NDS, “IPTV.iQ” entered the final round of a prestigious competition “Connected Content Technology Awards”. This year, more than 100 companies, independent producers, developers of technology and electronics solutions from over 23 countries competed in the competition, awards of which took place in Amsterdam.  “IPTV.iQ” also received a gold medal at this year’s awards “Lithuanian Product of the Year 2012”, organized by the Confederation of Lithuanian Industrialists.
