On February 19–22, Vilnius Book Fair that attracts tens of thousands of book lovers every year will once again invite its visitors to dedicate some time to a written word and meet some authors. It will be the fourth year that creative team of Knygos per Penki TV attends the fair.
On February 19–22, Vilnius Book Fair that attracts tens of thousands of book lovers every year will once again invite its visitors to dedicate some time to a written word and meet some authors. It will be the fourth year that creative team of Knygos per Penki TV attends the fair. The program that fosters the reading culture and helps to learn more about the world of books will prepare interviews with the most welcome guests of the fair, capture the most impressive events of the book festival and offer live webcasts.
This year, the fair focuses on mystery books. Knygos per Penki TV will dedicate time to this genre as well. One of the guests of a stylized studio of the program will be the Finnish author of modern detective books Salla Simukka, perhaps the most anticipated guest of the fair. As Red as Blood, the first book of the trilogy by the author, has received tremendous success and is compared to Stieg Larsson’s bestseller The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Journalists of Knygos per Penki TV will discuss this and other detective novels with the author.
One of the most famous Russian novelists and publicists Mikhail Shishkin is going to be yet another guest of the program. Abundance in words, musicality of the author’s prose, mystery and persuasiveness of his storylines received the most prestigious Russian literary awards: National Literary Award Big Book and the second most significant literary award New Russian Literature. At the fair, creative team of Knygos per Penki TV will invite the author to discuss his novels Letter Book and Maidenhair, which were translated into Lithuanian, as well as other literary topics.
Authors of the program will also dedicate great attention to the Lithuanian literature. They will discuss a new autobiographical book ...Be Pabaigos... (Without an End) and small wonders of daily life with an actress Doloresa Kazragyte. Another actress, traveler, photo artist and writer Egle Aukstakalnyte Hansen will invite the readers to visit the mysterious China with her latest book Mamahuhu. Šešeri metai Kinijoje (Mamahuhu. Six Years in China). The author who currently lives in Shanghai will talk about Chinese habits, behaviors, grandiose ambitions of the country and things that hide behind the shiny façade. Young writer Une Kaunaite will visit the studio to introduce her second work, a novel Žmonės iš Alkapės (People from Alkape), and to discuss self-search, uneasy choices, homeland and friendship.
The greatest sensation of the Book Fair of 2015 and good news for music lovers will be the opening of a Music Hall, an additional unconventional space that will be open longer than other exposition rooms of the fair, dedicated to the Lithuanian music publishing and managed by AGATA. Lithuanian music publishing companies will introduce their products, organize album presentations, and offer an opportunity to learn more about the Lithuanian jazz, classical music here. The hall will also serve as a venue for pop and rock concerts. Those who are unable to visit the Music Hall or who missed it will be able to watch live webcasts on DELFI TV offered by Penki TV channel.
Vilnius Book Fair is the major venue, where publishers, authors and readers meet and exchange opinions; it is an important cultural event in Lithuania and the largest book fair in the Baltic countries. Participants of the fair are Lithuanian and foreign publishing companies, booksellers, foreign collective stands, academic institutes, publishing offices of higher education establishments, public organizations, cultural centers, media, museums and galleries, etc. More than 60 thousand visitors attend the event every year.
