Ever since Drake Anthony was a child, he had a fascination with how things work. Drake have had many hobbies over the years including chemistry, pyrotechnics, and electronics, but his favorite hobby of all has to be lasers! Drake started tinkering with lasers when he was 12 years old, and learned through trial and error how to build lasers of his own from re-purposed electronics parts. After several failed attempts, he was able to build a laser capable of lighting things on fire from a laser diode pulled out of a DVD burner. He wanted to share these awesome creations, so at age 14 Drake began uploading short videos to YouTube. Today his videos on YouTube have gotten over 43 million hits, and he continue to upload videos of his laser related creations.

Moore award at Intel International Science and Engineering Fair and the Smithsonian American Ingenuity Award and was Mrs. Obama’s guest at the State of the Union Address. He was named a Champion of Change by President Obama for his work to break down scientific journal paywalls. He has spoken at TED Long Beach, over 16 TEDx events including the House of Parliament, is the youngest speaker at the Royal Society of Medicine and has been featured on 60 Minutes, World News Tonight with Diane Sawyer, NPR Marketplace, Popular Science, BBC, Al Jazeera and the Colbert Report as well as in award winning documentaries including “You Don’t know Jack” by Morgan Spurlock. Jack is currently working with a team of teens (Gen Z) on the Qualcomm Foundation Tricorder X Prize and speaks about open access, STEM education and universal Internet availability. Muller also appears as a television presenter on the Australian television program Catalyst. Veritasium is one of the leading science channels on YouTube with over 1.25M subscribers and over 60M views. Videos on the channel cover a range of topics including the physics of a falling slinky, a history of the kilogram, interviews with the public about science, interviews with Nobel Laureates and even an analysis of Facebook's business model. Muller was born in Australia and moved to Vancouver as an infant. Muller graduated from Queen's University with a B.Sc in Engineering Physics in 2004 and completed a PhD in physics education research from the University of Sydney in 2008. On April 3, 1973, Martin Cooper, Motorola Systems Manager, made the first call from a cell phone to a landline. Martin Cooper used the Motorola DynaTAC prototype to call and surprise Joel Engel, Bell company executive. This call opened a new paradigm in the world of communications. Today, 40 years later, new functionalities and smartphones are changing the user experience and the ways in which we live and work. Martin Cooper is a pioneer in the wireless communications industry; an inventor, entrepreneur and futurist. He has been a contributor to the technology of personal wireless communications for over 50 years. He conceived the first portable cellular phone in 1973. Cooper knew then that people needed the freedom that comes from anywhere, anytime telephony in contrast to being tethered to a desk or a car. He has been referred to as the ‘father’ of portable cellular telephony and is recognized as an innovator in spectrum management. Cooper was a submarine officer in the U.S. Navy. Following his military service, he became a division manager and head of R&D for Motorola during a 29-year tenure. As a serial entrepreneur, Cooper has started a number of businesses including co-founding GreatCall, Inc., maker of the Jitterbug phone and service and ArrayComm, the world leader in smart antenna technology. Cooper was an inaugural member of the Wireless History Foundation (WHF) Wireless Hall of Fame. Red Herring magazine named him one of the Top 10 Entrepreneurs of 2000, the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania Business named him a Transformation Technology Change Leader and he is a recipient of the IEEE Centennial Medal. In 2010, Cooper was inducted into the National Academy of Engineering and was awarded the Prince of Asturias Prize for Science and Technology. In February 2013, Cooper was co-recipient of the Charles Stark Draper Prize; one of the world’s preeminent awards for engineering achievement. In September 2013, Cooper was awarded the coveted Marconi Prize.
