EC supports Kazakhstan's accession to WTO
The European Commission supports the decision of Kazakhstan to enter the WTO. Adriaan Hendrik van der Meer, head of EC representation in RK, has stated this today, October 14, at a briefing after the credentials ceremony.
"One of main objectives of the EC is to help Kazakhstan to enter the World Trade Organisation. We hope that our co-operation on the integration of Kazakhstan into the world economy will be helpful," - he has said.
Besides, A. van der Meer has also said that the CC representation office will open in February 2006 in Astana.
According to the MFA of RK, the diplomatic relations between RK and the EC were established on 2 February, 1993. The 1H 2005 commodity turnover between RK and the EC amounted to $7.5 billion. Italy has the biggest among the EC member states share in the commodity turnover - 33.8%, France - 16.9%, Germany - 12.2%.
The EC member states have invested more than $10 billion into the Kazakhstani economy during these years.
