President Adamkus Extends Condolences to the Leaders of Pakistan and China

Monday, September 25, Vilnius – President Valdas Adamkus extended condolences to the leaders of Pakistan and China.

President Adamkus expressed deep sympathy to President Asif Ali Zardari of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on the terrorist bombing in Islamabad which killed dozens of people.

Valdas Adamkus underlined that the terrible bomb attack would consolidate the efforts of all countries to fight terrorism and intolerance. “Cowardly and meaningless acts of terror have no place in the civilized world,” Mr. Adamkus wrote in his letter of condolences.

He further stressed that only through the joint efforts of the entire international community would we be able to effectively block the way to terrorist assaults and assured President Zardani that Lithuania would remain a partner of Pakistan in countering terrorism.

President Adamkus also extended his symphathy to President Hu Jintao on the tragic fire that broke out in the gathering place of young people in South China, resulting in the death of tens of people.

On behalf of the people of Lithuania, President Adamkus extended sincere condolences to those who had lost their family members and loved ones. “The people of Lithuania stand in solidarity with those affected by this terrible tragedy,” Mr. Adamkus wrote in his message of condolences.

He wished fortitude and togetherness to the people of both countries.
