Reliquiae of Radvilos family reburied with military ceremony

Remains of noble family of Radvilos of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania will be reburied with military ceremony, September 3-5.

Honour Guard Company of Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas Headquarters Battalion will stand in an Escort of Honour to lead reliquiae of Radvilos to the reburial place in Vilnius, mound of Dubingiai. Troops will parade in the reproduced XIV century suit of armour symbolising historical glory of Lithuania in the Lithuanian Art Museum, Radvila Palace, from were the sarcophagus with the remains will be taken, and at the Dubingiai mound. The ceremony will be conducted to the tunes of the Lithuanian Armed Forces Band. Memory of Radvilos will be honoured with three shots of historical cannon: for nobleman of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Great Hetman, Chancellor and Voivod of Vilnius Nicholas Radvila the Red, nobleman of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Great Hetman, Chancellor and Voivod of Vilnius Nicholas Radvila the Black, and for the noble Radvilos family of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.

Radvilos family left a significant trace in the history of Lithuania's statehood and national armed forces: six members of the family served as Great Hetmans of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania at different periods of history - Duke Jurgis Radvila (from 1531 to 1541), Duke Mikalojus Radvila the Red (1552-1553, 1556-1566, 1577-1584), Duke Kristupas Radvila the Thunderer (1589-1603), Duke Kristupas Radvila (1635-1640), Duke Jonušas Radvila (1654-1655), and Duke Mikolas Kazimieras Radvila the Small Fish (1744-1762).

The remains to be reburied in Dubingiai mound that were found in 2004 in a burial place of Dubingiai evangelical-reformat church belong to members of a noble XVI century family of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania: Chancellor of the Duchy, Voivod of Vilnius, and Vicegerent of Livonia Mikalojus Radvila the Black, his wife Elžbieta Šidloviecka-Radvilienė, Chancellor of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Voivod of Vilnius and Great Hetman Mikalojus Radvila the Red, his son Mikalojus Radvila, the wife of Mikalojus Radvila Elena Hlebovičaitė, Mikalojus Radvila (grandson of Mikalojus Radvila the Red), Jonušas VI Radvila and Ana Sobkovna (the first wife of Kristupas Radvila the Thunderer).

Radvilos Family had residence in Dubingiai mound, Molėtai District, from XVI century.
