Lithuanian aims to intensify political, economic and cultural cooperation with Israel
On 7 June in Vilnius, Lithuania’s Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Šarūnas Adomavičius met with Chairman of the Knesset Lithuanian-Israeli Parliamentary Friendship Group Zeev Bielski and discussed the cooperation between the countries, as well as in international organizations.
“The parliamentary cooperation contributed to the strengthening of Lithuanian-Israeli relations. We need to develop our political, economic and cultural cooperation”, the Vice-Minister said.
The Vice-Minister invited the delegation of the Knesset to intensify commercial and economic relations, tourism exchange between Israel and Lithuania, to encourage Israeli businessmen to invest in Lithuania, as well as to develop bilateral cooperation in the fields of culture and education, in order to have a better knowledge of both cultures and traditions.
Vice-Minister Š.Adomavičius congratulated Israel with its accession to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development.
The interlocutors also exchanged their opinions on the Middle East peace process and regarding the Israeli military actions against the flotilla, carrying aid supplies to the Gaza Strip.
The programme of Z.Bielski’s visit also includes meetings with Chancellor of the Prime Minister, Deividas Matulionis, Deputy Speaker of Seimas (the parliament of Lithuania) Česlovas Juršėnas, and a visit to the Museum of Genocide Victims.
