Lithuania – 141st member of the World Trade Organisation
On May 31 Lithuania has officially become 141st member of the World Trade Organisation (WTO). “I’m sure that Lithuania’s membership in WTO will stimulate the completion of economic and legal reforms in our country as well as add to the liberalisation of trade regime”, said Valdas Adamkus, the President of Lithuania. “WTO is a set of international trade rules, ensuring the country’s stability and reliability in the world trade system,” said Dalia Grybauskaite, Vice-minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania. “WTO membership opens for Lithuania markets of 140 countries on the basis of most favoured nation status”, continued Ms.Grybauskaite. “Lithuania will be an active member of the organisation and make the best use of all that the WTO has to offer,” said Ms.Grybauskaite.
