BrainStorm set for North American promotion
Beginning in February, radio audiences in Canada and the United States may be able to hear Latvian pop-rock band BrainStorm's new hit song "Maybe." The Canadian music publisher Nettwerk Productions, based in British Columbia, expects to release the single to radio stations as it tests the waters before moving ahead with a full album release. Among artists Nettwerk has produced is Canadian star Sarah McLachlan, while it also has released albums by such international musical artists as Scotland's The Proclaimers and France's Autour de Lucie. BrainStorm, known in Latvia as Prāta Vētra, released "Maybe" earlier this month as part of joint English and Latvian albums, Online and Kaķēns, kurÅ¡ atteicās no jūras skolas. The albums were released Sept. 1 in Rīga on the MICREC label. According to MICREC, the Latvian version went gold within a week of its release, selling more than 8,000 copies. Songs from the English version, which is due for distribution beyond the Baltics in October, are getting regular radio and music video play on European stations.
