IPTV news will be discussed in Canada

On June 18-21, an “Open IPTV Forum” (OIPF) conference will take place in Montreal (Canada), which is organized by the International Organisation OIPF. It will bring together dozens of the world’s largest TV operators, TV equipment and content developers under one roof.

Together with the largest TV companies, among the participants of the conference will be a group of companies “Penki kontinentai”, that has been developing and offering its clients Internet Protocol Television products since 2007 and is a member of the OIPF organisation. The company’s IPTV clients have long enjoyed not only ordinary, but also 3D and HD channels, they browse internet, listen to radio, play games, rent movies, connect to Facebook, have an opportunity to record programs for later viewing, create their own TV grid on a TV screen, manage and watch TV on their mobile devices, etc.

The OIPF organisation, creating global IPTV standards, will, of course, focus on topics related to standardization and certification of IP television. “Penki kontinentai” will invite to discuss about standardization of “IPTV Retail & Banking” (banking and retail services platform on the TV screen). It is a kind of bank branch, electronic or mobile banking in the IPTV environment, where a TV set becomes an intermediary between a bank and its client or between a shopping center and buyer. Using a new-generation graphical interface developed by the Lithuanian company, users can easily manage their accounts, perform various banking transactions, open a virtual account and review statements on services provided, etc. by means of a TV set.

It is worth noting that in early March, OIPF together with the group of companies “Penki kontinentai” organized a conference and symposium dedicated to IPTV topics in Vilnius, where, together with such companies as Sony, Philips, Huawei Technologies, Deutsche Telekom, etc., they discussed the latest trends and perspectives in television market, the rapidly growing importance of IPTV. During the symposium, Huawei Technologies initiated a setting up of Deployment group, preparing a list of requirements for those wishing to install IPTV. In Canada, “Penki kontinentai” is planning to meet representatives of Huawei Technologies and discuss possibilities and prospects of cooperation.

Interestingly, “Penki kontinentai” already offers to Lithuanian consumers an innovative OTT service introduced at the Vilnius symposium by global companies, which allows for streaming and watching videos as well as offers other options, regardless of device type, Internet service provider, user location. All those willing had an opportunity to watch the progress conference “LOGIN 2012” that took place in Vilnius via www.scena.lt and www.penki.tv (optionally, on a smartphone, computer, tab), and over 1000 people were streaming the event simultaneously.
