The awards of British librarians

British readers in search of a novel to suit their mood will be able to consult an Internet database rating books on a scale of one to 10 on humor, emotions, sex or violence. British librarians are awarding 1,000 books, from classic literature to modern novels, points on everything from optimism to repulsiveness in order to enable readers to broaden their literary taste. The database is the brainchild of the Society of Chief Librarians, who have already given Thomas Hardy_s 19-century classic "Tess of the D_Urbervilles" just two points for optimism and humor but seven for violence and 10 for emotion.
