The demands to stop the bombing

President B. Yeltsin presided over a Security Council meeting devoted to the Balkan situation. The Kremlin chief stated that Russia may drop the negotiations on the Yugoslav problem if NATO continues not taking Moscow_s demands to stop the bombing into account. Yeltsin said that NATO top officials did not react to Russia_s peace initiatives regarding the Kosovo crisis. Acting Prime Minister S. Stepashin, Foreign Minister I. Ivanov, Federal Security Service Director and Security Council chairman V. Putin, Russian special Balkan Envoy V. Chernomyrdin and other state officials also took part in the meeting.
