Maastricht Treaty criteria

Lithuania is among few EU candidate countries meeting all the Maastricht Treaty criteria, said Patricia Alonso-Gamo, Head of IMF mission in Lithuania. IMF has a positive assesssment of Lithuania’s economic outlook and fast growth, said the Head of the IMF Mission. Pursuant to the draft budget for 2004, Lithuania’s fiscal defficit will rise to 2.95% of GDP, whereas in 2003 it will be 2.2% of GDP, according to Algirdas Brazauskas, Prime Minister of Lithuania.
