The EU appeals to the Belarusian authorities

The EU appeals to the Belarusian authorities with a request to end up the hearings on the liquidation of the public association “The Rights’ Defending Center “Viasna”” and let the organization to carry on its activities. In spite of the fact that hearings in court on the liquidation of the Center by the appeal of the Ministry of Justice started on October 22, the EU asks the Belarusian authorities to stop the trial. In the last few months the EU “is constantly showing its concern about the current repressions against the civil population and the independent mass media in Belarus, which is the breach of the obligations undertaken by the country as a member of the EU.” “With a deep concern we have to state that the repressions are still going on,” emphasizes the EU.
