New Prime Minister
Belarusian ‘parliament’, the ‘chamber of representatives’, as one would expect, accepted Lukashenka’s proposal and approved Sidorsky as a new prime minister of Belarus. As the Russian information agency “Novosti” was informed by the press secretary of Belarusian president Natalia Pyatkevich, the candidacy of Syarhei Sidorky was offered by Lukashenka on Thursday. Besides, Lukashenka came to the “chamber” personally to introduce the future PM. Syarhei Sidorsky was born in Homiel on March 13, 1954. In 1976 he finished electro technical faculty of the Belarusian institute of engineers of the railway transport. He is a doctor of technical sciences, an expert in the sphere of vacuum and plasma technologies, author of more than 40 scientific works and monographs, Academician of the International Engineering Academy. He started his work as an electrician. From 1976 to 1991 he worked at the Homiel plant of radio-technological equipment. In 1992 he was appointed director general of the scientific and manufacturing association “Raton”. Since 1988 he was a vice-chairman of Homiel regional executive committee. In 2001 A. Lukashenka appointed S. Sidorsky deputy prime minister. On July 10, 2003 in connection with resignation of the prime minister, A.Lukashenka Sidorsky has been appointed acting prime minister.
