UN to expand its involvement in North Caucasus
The United Nations will step up its efforts in the North Caucasus to help restore order in this Russian region and encourage its further socio economic development. This statement was made at a November 15 meeting of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and UN Development Program (UNDP) representative Stefan Vasilev, says a Foreign Ministry press release circulated on Wednesday. "The UNDP confirmed its commitment to increasing the number of its projects in the North Caucasus that are aimed at securing a lasting peace and accelerating the region's socioeconomic development," the release says.
