A company “Skaitmeninio sertifikavimo centras” (SSC) owned by a group of companies “Penki kontinentai” celebrates 10th anniversary of its activities. The company established in July, 2004, was the first one in Lithuania to draw up qualified electronic signature certificates and provide other services related to the electronic signatures.

SSC issued the first Lithuanian e-signature certificate in 2005 to the staff of the KTU Information Technology Development Institute. In the same year, the first 100 certificates were issued to employees and ministers of 21 state institutions.

Over its 10 years of activities, the company has implemented a number of projects: it has developed “Justa GE” e-signing software for the public sector, e-signing learning system and methodological materials; the company was also the first in Europe to offer remote certificate renewal service and started providing timestamp services, etc.  Compliance of services of SSC with international standards has been approved by an independent audit company “TÜV Informationstechnik GmbH” (TÜViT).

Ever since the company was established, SSC has been actively participating in international events and initiatives. Along with such companies as “Google”, “Apple”, “Microsoft”, “Symantec”, etc. the Lithuanian company is a member of “Billing for Rent” project funded by the European Commission under “eTen” programme and a member of “CA/Browser” international forum that annually participates in one of the most important e-security events in the world: RSA Conference (USA).

Today, SSC is an up-to-date company audited in line with international standards, which serves 20 thousand customers in 21 countries. SSC provides certification and e-signature software services in both Lithuania and abroad (Latvia, Sweden, Ireland, Norway, Great Britain, etc.) for public and private sectors, consulting on the issues associated with the installation and use of this technology, conducts research to develop software solutions that have no analogues and participates with global experts in the field in working groups for the development of international standards.
