The tender announced by the Skulte port for the right to carry out water area and channel deepening has finished. The volume of the planned works is 110 thousand of cubic meters and the due date is the 1st of October 2001.
The applicants were to possess the necessary equipment, financial and material resources and a relevant experience in this kind of work, as stated in the contest conditions. According to the prior information, the pier reconstruction and the works on channel deepening attract s state-guaranteed credit of 600 thousand Lats ($937.5 thousand).
The contest was won by Pirma Latvijas komercbanka bank. On receiving the credit mentioned the Skulte port launches its port development investment program. The program presupposed the investment of more than 1 mil Lats ($1 562.5 thousand).
The Skulte port is one of the minor Latvian ports. Within the period of 5 months the port transshipped 207 thousand tons of cargoes as compared to the previous year - 266 thousand tons total.
