Data Mining in electronic payment systems.

As companies focus on business-to-business e-commerce, electronic payment systems don_t always top the list of concerns. An example: BlueGill Technologies, a maker of tools that convert legacy data into e-commerce-ready formats, has a customer in the telecom industry that presents one of its own customers with bills that would run to 40,000 paper pages. In that case, said BlueGill marketing exec R. Pickering, the value of an Internet bill is in the mining and manipulation of data, not the single payment required on the account."They like our product because it can break the data down and present it state by state, division by division or however they need to see it to make it useful," Pickering said. "Forty-thousand pages is a big job, but not in terms of the payment technology."
