The well-established artistic festivals NUIT BLANCHE and BRXLBRAVO in Brussels are organised this year in partnership with the European Year of Creativity and Innovation 2009 (EYCI2009).
The well-established artistic festivals NUIT BLANCHE and BRXLBRAVO in Brussels are organised this year in partnership with the European Year of Creativity and Innovation 2009 (EYCI2009). NUIT BLANCHE will give public access to exhibitions, films, concerts, stories and contemporary dance in Brussels on the night of 3 October, while the arts festival BRXLBRAVO will offer the opportunity to discover the city through music, dance and theatre at different venues over the three days. T he joint events amount to more than 110 activities in 80 different places in Brussels.
BRXLBRAVO is a 3-day arts festival (2-4 October) in the centre of Brussels, and is being held for the third time. Visitors will be able to enjoy performances and creative events - concerts, theatre performances, art and dance marathons - in well-known artistic hotspots and will have the chance to discover others that are less well-known. Festive dances on Friday evening, an alternative jogging route via parades and workshops, Sunday morning culture brunches and the launch of BRXLDomino are among the proposed attractions.
The cities of Rome, Madrid, Riga, Paris, Bucharest and Brussels will work together to promote artistic exchanges via the Nuit Blanche on the night of 3 October. This will be an occasion for people to share unusual and creative aspects of the contemporary culture scene in a warm and festive atmosphere that is both artistic and popular.
The European Commission is supporting several artistic creations throughout the weekend that have contributed to the European Year of Creativity and Innovation.

Background
The EU has designated 2009 as the European Year of Creativity and Innovation. The Year aims to raise awareness of importance of creativity and innovation as a key competence of personal, social and economic development. Hundreds of activities and projects which represent good practice in innovation and creativity will be highlighted, promoted and disseminated during the EYCI2009.
The activities of the EYCI2009 are aimed at a range of different groups including young people, educators, firms and policy makers, as well as the general public. Civil society organisations are encouraged to mobilise and get involved at European, national and local levels.
