The seventh Baltic Sea Festival has just finished in Stockholm, but from 8 September, the festival moves on to Brussels. Over four days, the Swedish Radio Choir and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra will present the highlights of this year's programme at five exclusive concerts.

Since it began in 2003, the Baltic Sea Festival, organised by SR Berwaldhallen, has established itself as one of Europe’s most important classical music festivals. Each year, the festival has a ‘satellite’ in a city outside of Sweden, and this year the choice was Brussels, because Sweden is holding the Presidency of the EU.

“The Baltic Sea Festival stands for music, the environment and peace. It is also a living illustration of cooperation between nations. All the pieces of the jigsaw are in the right place and therefore it was a natural choice to take this piece of Sweden to the capital of Europe ahead of the Presidency”, says Magnus Robach, Sweden’s Ambassador in Brussels.

The Baltic Sea Festival in Brussels will form part of the Klara Festival, an annual music festival which this year also includes concerts by some of Sweden's most distinguished jazz musicians. Artists including the Bobo Stenson trio, Wildbirds & Peacedrums, the Jan Lundgren Trio and the Tolvan Big Band will all be travelling to Brussels during August and September.
