Best of world cinema at NatFilm festival

Published: 8 March 2003 y., Saturday
Virtually every continent in the world is represented among the 143 films on offer at this year's NatFilm Festival, set to kick off at a launch party in Copenhagen tonight. As with previous years, diversity is this year's buzzword at NatFilm, and the festival will feature a host of foreign films seldom seen in Danish theatres. Both African and Asian films are well represented on this year's program, with several features reflecting today's tense political situation. One notable example is the Palestinian film "Divine Intervention," which won the Jury's Special Prize at last year's Cannes Film Festival. European entries at NatFilm include several series of recent French and German films. Blockbusters on offer include the Oscar-hyped American musical "Chicago," and the winner of this year's Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival, "In This World."
