The European Commission Representation in Ireland and the Darklight Film Festival have just launched a competition for a short online film on the theme of 'Democracy & Dialogue' - and what it means to you.
The Darklight Film Festival, which takes place from 8 to 11 October, runs an annual competition for political bloggers and cybernauts. This year the European Commission Representation in Ireland is cooperating with the Festival to include an EU category on democracy and dialogue.
Irish film-makers are being invited to make a short film, inspired by the notion of Democracy and Dialogue. This can be a comedy, a tragedy, a documentary or an animated film. The idea is to get people thinking.
Entries, which have to be uploaded onto a video hosting site, must be submitted by 11 September 2009 and the winner will be selected on the basis of the best film produced and the number of hits their video gets.
The Representation is also hosting a free one-day workshop on Saturday, 8 August, in its premises on Dawson Street, Dublin, for people interested in making their own online films.
