The premiere of Peter Eötvös’ latest opera, Love and Other Demons (based on the novel by Gabriel Garcia Marquez), will be presented as the co-production by culture institutions of two countries. This is the first staging of contemporary opera by a foreign composer on the Lithuanian music stage. Following its world premiere during the prestigious Glyndebourne Festival in Great Britain, the Lithuanian audience saw this opera during the ISCM World Music Days 2008 festival.

Peter Eötvös is one of the most productive composers of his generation, famous interpreter of contemporary music, and pedagogue. Multi-faceted musical activities of this Hungarian-born composer represent intercultural co-operation, while his works are marked for unique European spirit.
