"Despite the millions of words of hype, the expectations of millions and the millions in the bank, Rowling has succeeded in crafting a book that will disappoint no true Potter fan," said Darren Waters in an online review for the BBC.
Waters said the latest plot saw the schoolboy wizard facing possible expulsion from his Hogwarts school over the way he confronts two magical adversaries sent to attack him.
Harry is then thrust into the protective circle of the Order of Phoenix, a hastily assembled force of benevolent witches and wizards, which vows to defeat the teen magician's mortal enemy Lord Voldemort.
"Rowling keeps the narrative moving at a terrific pace", said Waters, adding that readers who have not read the previous books in the Potter series may find the array of personalities and storylines confusing.
