Canadian researchers presented a "PaperPhone - flexible minicomputer prototype

Kingston Queen's University specialists have developed the world's first prototype of flexible minicomputer. The device, called "PaperPhone" will be presented on May 10 in Vancouver at the conference “Association of Computing Machines CHI 2011”.

With Smartphone functionality "PaperPhone is thin as a sheet of paper. Such manufacturing technology was developed by scientists led by Roelem Vertergaal.

"PaperPhone has a 9.5-inch flexible screen constructed using "E-Ink” technology. The device allows you to listen to music and read eBooks. Developers say that the device can be controlled by gestures.

"Flexible displays have a great prospect. This is the future of our technological life, "- said lab director of Kingston Queen's University and inventor of the device Roel Vertergaal.

According to him, over the next five years, the demand for such products will increase significantly.
