The Russian representative office of Eastman Kodak on Friday lost a suit in Moscow Arbitration Court against the public networks development institute RosNIIROS over the use of the company's brand name on the website www.kodak.ru operated by private businessman Alexander Grundul. The main reason the court ruled against Kodak could have that the institute was an "inappropriate defendant," since RosNIIROS is only responsible for registering websites, said Sergo Selivanovsky, a patent attorney from Barschevsky i partnyory who represented Grundul, the third party in the case. Also, at the time of the hearing there was no law or other legislation regulating relations involving the naming of websites.
