The Intel Corporation has filed a trademark legal suit against Intelnet, Inc., a firm which specialises in er... intelligent networks and fingerprint verification.
Published:
19 July 2000 y., Wednesday
The firm, whose Web site is www.intelgate.com, appears provides one-to-one fingerprint matching for law enforcement agencies across the world.
The legal case was launched in the US on 10 July last. According to the court docket, the case was lodged in the US District Court in San Jose, and is an alleged trademark infringement by Intelnet Inc. Judge Jeremy Fogel will preside over the case.
This Intelnet Inc appears to have nothing in common with The Intelnet, which can be found here, and which is an experimental site for the communication of creative minds. Instead, Intelnet was formed in 1985, so it's been around for a time. Its company slogan is: "The World at your Fingertips."
Intel is very jealous of its intellectual property, once even going so far as to trademark its loop to prevent outsiders putting funny things inside it.
