New Web Browser

Published: 29 June 1999 y., Tuesday
InterNiche, Inc., a leading provider of embedded networking products announced the release of a revolutionary new World Wide Web Browser, designed for deeply embedded applications, called NicheView . This compliant Browser implementation requires only 30K bytes of program space, and is targeted to deeply embedded devices such as PDAs, set top boxes and consumer electronics devices requiring Web connectivity. NicheView is different from conventional Browsers like Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer in several ways: First, it is less specifically tailored to a particular set of I/O devices such as keyboards, pointing devices, color and bit-mapped displays. Second, NicheView provides a generic interface for input events (such as keystrokes, clicks, etc.) and output streams which pass text blocks, images and other content to device drivers. This design modularity makes NicheView ideal for a variety of designs such as cellular phones, hand held PDA_s, special purpose computers, and set top devices...
