Published: 29 June 2011 y., Wednesday

Most folks do work with their hands, but what about your feet? Surely you shouldn’t just leave them to tap or shake all day long (yes, some people have that kind of habit). Of course, there are also those who have lost the use of their hands, leaving them to rely on their feet to write or even paint instead. With the SoftStep KeyWorx multi-touch foot controller, you might just stumble upon a new hands-free method of using your computer.

Touted to be the world’s first foot controlled digital interface, where it is said to provide a new and faster way to operate a computer. It will come in Mac and Windows flavors, making the SoftStep KeyWorx a valuable new tool for everyone and anyone using a computer. It doesn’t matter if you’re a hardcore or casual gamer, a video editor, programmer, data entry professional, or even disabled – this is one of the faster ways to use the computer.

Capable of remembering up to 100 sets of commands, the SoftStep will be powered via USB, and is pressure and location sensitive. There are 10 fully customizable keys which can remember up to 100 sets of commands for repetitive tasks. The cursor/click control will enable the user to ensure their hands remain comfortably on the keyboard all the time, while the blue backlight allows you to use it even when the lights around you are turned off.

Using advanced elastomeric and graphite composites which results in a super rugged yet lightweight design, the SoftStep ends up as a light-weight and portable device, tipping the scales at a mere pound, making it tiny enough to fit in a briefcase or backpack. Among the tasks that can be performed include accessing the Internet, opening and closing software apps, entering text, bringing a browser forward and zooming in and out amongst others.

Heck, especially those who suffer from Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) and carpal tunnel will find the SoftStep KeyWorx multi-touch foot controller to be a boon in their lives.
