The plans to launch a new portal site

In an effort to provide comprehensive travel services from one location, retailer SkyMall Inc. Friday announced plans to launch a new portal site, skymalltravel.com, with the help of other players in the travel industry. The site is scheduled to launch in July, and will feature co-branded content from partners TRIP.com, MapQuest, ontheroad.com, Frequent Flyer Services Inc. and myfamily.com. Services are set to include airline ticket comparison and booking information from TRIP.com, a frequent flyer MileageManager from Frequent Flyer Services, Web site hosting from myfamily.com, a list of events in specific cities from ontheroad.com, and MapQuest_s database of maps and directions. "No longer does the frequent flyer need to visit multiple sites to plan and book their trip," said S. Goldman, vice president, business development for skymall.com. "With skymalltravel.com_s one-stop access in a neutral environment, busy travelers will have the ultimate travel portal." SkyMall, which also runs an online retail site, also reaches an estimated 1.1 million airline passengers with its in-flight catalog, SkyMall. The company said it will promote the travel portal by using the magazine to reach its target audience--frequent travelers.
