Unisys to Offer Unisys Stealth Solution for Amazon Web Services

Published: 12 June 2013 y., Wednesday

Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) announced the availability of its Unisys Stealth Solution for Amazon Web Services (AWS) designed to enhance security for clients moving data into the cloud.

Clients acquiring the Unisys Stealth Solution for AWS will obtain best-of-breed cloud and security capabilities from both AWS and Unisys. The Unisys Stealth SolutionTM encrypts communication between the client’s enterprise users and the AWS cloud, and helps hide virtual processing environments from unauthorized users.

“The Unisys Stealth Solution provides AWS customers the ability to add advanced network security solutions when moving their data to the AWS cloud,” said Terry Wise, head of Worldwide Partner Ecosystem, Amazon Web Services. “This solution enables customers to devote more time to business innovation instead of spending valuable resources on infrastructure management.”

AWS offers a rich set of infrastructure services that enable Unisys clients to run enterprise applications in the cloud. These services help cut hardware, administrative and maintenance costs regardless of the scale of the client’s operations. In a July 2012 report, IDC estimated that clients can save an average of $518,990 a year for each application they place on AWS.1

“In survey after survey, enterprises report that data security is the greatest concern preventing them from taking advantage of the efficiencies and cost benefits of the cloud,” said Rod Sapp, vice president of products and technology, Unisys. “At Unisys, we are using the AWS cloud to supplement our development environment for solutions automating the analysis of video captured by our video surveillance solutions. Stealth is used to protect and cloak the intellectual property in these solutions as well as the video content.”

Stealth establishes separate groups of users – or communities of interest – within the cloud. The Unisys Stealth Solution is designed to allow only authorized users within each community. The data-in-motion is encrypted across the internet and within the AWS cloud to create what is effectively a hidden secure private network by cloaking the endpoints. And because authorization is performed within the client’s enterprise data centers, the client retains control of encryption keys.

Unisys recently became a consulting partner member of the AWS Partner Network, to help clients design, architect, migrate and build new applications on the AWS infrastructure. Unisys offers AWS cloud hosting services as part of the Unisys solutions through contracts such as the recently awarded Western States Contract Alliance (WSCA) contract. Under that contract, Unisys solutions and their AWS components are available to various participating U.S. state governments and other public sector organizations.
