Wincor Nixdorf and HypoVereinsbank (HVB) have successfully completed one of the most extensive rollouts of self-service systems in Germany. Together with HypoVereinsbank, Wincor Nixdorf has installed around 1700 systems – self-service terminals, statement printers and cash deposit and dispensing systems – at over 600 locations within 16 months. This project means that HVB now has cutting-edge technology to help the bank ensure highly available and extensive customer service.

In the process, HVB, one of the largest private major banks in Germany, has improved and extended its self-service portfolio. Customers can now conduct standard transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, statement printing, funds transfers or mobile phone top-ups around the clock. Feedback on the new systems from HVB’s customers has been consistently positive. The account statement printers have been replaced with multi-function self-service terminals in all branches, so that customers now have access to an extended range of services at HVB banks. In addition, customers experience the user-friendliness of the new systems as a significant improvement over the previous technology. Examples include the scanners installed in many locations for scanning funds transfer forms, or the faster printing speed.

HVB commissioned Wincor Nixdorf in two tranches to equip the branches with self-service technology. In mid 2008, Wincor Nixdorf received the contract for roughly 1500 systems – cash dispensers, statement printers and self-service terminals. In June 2009, HVB ordered a further 185 systems that unite the cash deposit and withdrawal functions in one device. Wincor Nixdorf is also assuming responsibility for the maintenance of the newly installed devices. The control of service provision takes place via an online connection from the devices to HVB’s own management system and from there to Wincor Nixdorf’s Customer Care Center.
