Yahoo! Adds Asian Sites

Yahoo! Inc. Wednesday launched three new sites in Asia, targeting Web users in Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Yahoo! said the launch of Yahoo! Singapore, Yahoo! Taiwan and Yahoo! Hong Kong reinforces its commitment to the region and recognition of the Internet_s growth in Asia. "By expanding our offerings in Asia, we are able to deliver highly-targeted audiences to advertisers and a more localized Web experience for users. In addition, having a strong presence on the ground in Asia allows us to run our business locally and better service the needs of users, partners and clients in the region. The new Asian sites brings the total number of Yahoo! properties in the region to eight and 18 worldwide. They include sites for Japan, Korea, China, Australia and New Zealand as well as an English-language guide for Southeast Asia. Yahoo! said the new sites were developed to serve as a comprehensive resource tailored to the specific needs of users in each market. Each new guide has tends of thousands of sites that have been catalogued by Yahoo! staff. Yahoo! Hong Kong is also provided in an English version. In addition to regional programming, the new guides also link directly to the original Yahoo! site.
