Four thousand marchers went along the streets of the Byelorussia capital demanding resignation of Lukashenko. The local opposition leaders say that the parliamentary elections scheduled for October 15 will be no more than a farce.
Many opposition candidates are removed; there is no free access for mass media and many other violations of law give one such an impression. United States does not consider the elections in Byelorussia as legitimate. And the Organization for Cooperation and Security in Europe, which usually sends its observers to the countries of Eastern Europe, does not intend to do it this time.
President of Byelorussia Alexander Lukashenko is highly critical of both the United States and Europe. He recently arrested 200 protesters who called to boycott the elections.
