Estonian food processors enjoy preference status in trade with Russia, Ukraine

Russia and Ukraine have adopted a common position to permit the import of food only from those new European Union member states where no transition periods in food safety were applied and which consequently meet all the valid EU requirements.
Unlike its neighbors, Estonia didn't seek transition periods for its food processing companies to bring themselves into conformity with EU standards.
This is having a positive effect on trade with Russia and Ukraine, officials at the Estonian Veterinary and Food Board said.
