Demetrios Kristofias, president of the House of Representatives of Cyprus, is in Armenia on a two-day official visit. He had a joined press conference with Artur Baghdasarian, chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia, during which the sides underscored the fact that Armenia and Cyprus entered a new kind of strategic cooperation with no discords and till have great potential to be used.
Speaking of Turkey’s membership in the EU, the sides noted that Turkey may enter the EU if it fulfils all demands of the latter and that double standards will be of no avail in this case.
They also talked about cooperation within international institutions and about Cyprus’ support to Armenia on its way to the EU. The issue of Melkonian Educational Institute was also on the agenda. Demetrios Kristofias said that the Cyprus government takes steps for preserving the Institute.
