The Chairman of Milli Majlis Murtuz Aleskerov received the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan to Azerbaijan Tetsua Khirose.

Japanese companies were represented in various economic projects in Azerbaijan. National Oil Corporation participates in the contracts on oil and gas production, the government finances the construction of the power units of "Severnaya" Hydro Electric Power Station and Sumgait city.
Mr. Tetsua Khirose, for his part stated that relations between two countries are friendly and successfully developed. The big push for it was the official visit of Azerbaijan President Heydar Aliyev to Japan, on February 1998, where the inter-governmental documents were signed.
Speaking on cooperation between Azerbaijani and Japanese Parliaments, the Ambassador stressed that Japanese-Azerbaijani group was created in the supreme legislative body of Japan. Mr. Tetsua Khirose said that Japan pays great significance to the cooperation on geopolitical projects in restoration of the Great Silk Route.
Speaker Murtuz Aleskerov asked Ambassador to hand over an official invitation to the representatives of both Chambers of Parliament of Japan to visit Azerbaijan and added that the same group of Azerbaijani-Japanese relations was created in the Milli Majlis, as well.
