Allied Joint Force Commander Brunssum Gen. Egon Ramms visit Lithuania

Today, September 3, Allied Joint Force Commander Brunssum (Holland) Gen. Egon Ramms will arrive in Lithuania for a formal two-day visit. The visit is aimed at better acquaintance with the proceeding of Lithuania’s Armed Forces’ NATO integration and level of readiness of Lithuanian Armed Forces for fulfilling international commitments as well as at discussing Lithuania’s participation in NATO operations.


On the first day Gen. Ramms will take part in the meeting with the Chief of Defence of Lithuania Lt. Gen. Valdas Tutkus, commanders of branches of the Armed Forces, and other representatives of Lithuanian Armed Forces at the Defence Staff of the Ministry of National Defence. Allied Joint Force Commander Brunssum will be updated on operations conducted by Lithuania in Afghanistan, Iraq and the Balkans, on service of Lithuanian soldiers in NATO Response Force, on naval operations, and the BALTRON Squadron.


On the following day of the visit Gen. Ramms will be meting with the Minister of National Defence Juozas Olekas, Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of National Defence for defence policy and international relations Andrius Krivas, and heads of departments. Afterwards General will go to the Airspace Control Centre to meet with representatives of Lithuanian Air Force and view NATO Baltic Air-policing mission.


NATO Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum is one of NATO commands in Europe responsible for operations conducted by the Alliance. The main operation Command Brunssum is currently in charge of is NATO ISAF mission in Afghanistan. Command Brunssum also manages operation of NATO Response Force.
