State Department spokesman James Foley said the United States is, of course, ready to work with Russia and its allies towards closer cooperation, but noted that Washington regards the statement of Putin as willingness to establish a good relationship with the West, but made it quite clear that Russian membership in NATO so far appears absolutely impossible.
