United Nations Secretary-General, Kofi Annan has proposed wide-ranging reforms of the world body. Addressing the UN's General Assembly in New York, Annan proposed expanding the five seated Security Council by another six to nine members.
The reforms also include establishing rules for using military force, strengthening human rights and increasing aid for developing countries. The Secretary-General appealed to governments to accept the proposals as a whole when they meet for a world summit in September. Meanwhile Britain says it strongly supports Annan's efforts to relieve global poverty.
