Chechen Rebels Capture Russian Officers

Chechen Rebels cut off the heads of two Russian officers in the Vedeno district of Chechnya and abandoned them nearby Russian military unit, ITAR TASS reported, quoting Russian Federal Security Service. Two Russian Officers, the Lieutenant Colonels, had been missing in the Vedeno district since 26th July. The Deputy Head of Russia's General Staff, Col. Gen. Valery Manilov, confirmed this information. The assignment term of two officers in Chechnya had almost expired and they were invited at the wedding of their Chechen friend on 26th July. They never came back. The military Command beleived the officers had been kidnaped by rebels for a future exchange for Chechen fighters and promised to do their best to liberate the Russian officers. The office of President spokesman Sergei Yastrzhembsky did not confirm this information.
