Inspector General of the Bundeswehr Gen. Wolfgang Schneiderhan arrived to Lithuania on an official two-day visit, October 6.
Inspector General of the Bundeswehr Gen. Wolfgang Schneiderhan arrived to Lithuania on an official two-day visit, October 6. He will come at invitation of the Chief of Defence of Lithuania Lt. Gen. Valdas Tutkus.
In the framework of visit Gen. Schneiderhan will meet with the Minister of National Defence Juozas Olekas, Chief of Defence Lt. Gen. V. Tutkus, and representatives of Defence Staff.
In the October 6 meeting Minister J.Olekas and Gen. Schneiderhan plan to discuss results of the NATO Defence Ministers’ meeting, and participation of German and Lithuanian troops in international operations.
In the meeting with the Chief of Defence Lt. Gen. Valdas Tutkus and members of Defence Staff the guest will be introduced to the history of Lithuanian Armed Forces, process of transformation, future prospects, and participation of Lithuanian soldiers in international operations.
The guest will also visit the Government of the Republic of Lithuania and meet with the Prime Minister Gediminas Kirkilas.
German Armed Forces consisting of around 250,000 members actively contributes to NATO, the EU and the UN operations. There are more than 8 thousand German soldiers deployed abroad at the moment with the main focus on Afghanistan and the Balkans region.
