Citizens of Lithuania airlifted from Georgia

Aircraft of Lithuanian Air Force (LAF) C–27J Spartan took off from Tbilisi Airfield to evacuate 39 citizens of Lithuania from Georgia crisis region on August 11 at 9.10 a.m. at Lithuanian time.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Petras Vaitiekūnas will return to Lithuania on the same plane.

This morning C–27J Spartan carried to Georgia a load of humanitarian aid – medicaments and means of wound dressing. The batch weighing about 3t was arranged by Lithuanian Ministry of Health and Military Medicine Service.

At request of Lithuanian Foreign Affairs Ministry LAF aircraft was sent to Georgia by order of leadership of Ministry of National Defence and Lithuanian Armed Forces.

Flight of Spartan including landing in Odessa, Ukraine, will last about 7 seven hours, the plane is expected to land in Vilnius International Airport at about 4.30 p.m.
