Lithuania Overtakes Estonia in Getting Ready for EU Accession

Lithuania has been named as one of the leaders according to the state of its preparedness for EU accession in the Comprehensive Monitoring Report announced by the European Commission.
According to the evaluation presented in the report, all future member states will be ready for EU accession by 1 May 2004, although there still remain some issues to be solved and tasks to be accomplished by the day of accession
European Commission has ranked Lithuania as second after Slovenia, according to its preparedness for EU membership. Estonia has been given the fourth place.
