President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė attending the UN General Assembly in New York met with the interim President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Roza Otunbayeva. During their conversation, President Dalia Grybauskaitė stressed the important role of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe in managing critical situations.

“I assured the interim Kyrgyz President, Roza Otungayeva, that Lithuania would give a priority to conflict prevention and resolution during its presidency of the OSCE next year. Kyrgyzstan is one of the countries that particularly need support from the international community to ensure effective functioning of democratic institutions and to enforce stability in the country,” the President said.
